MINUTES
SPECIAL TOWN MEETING
November 3, 2016
The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
First Selectman, Christina Mailhos read the call of the meeting and asked for nominations for a moderator. Tim Heim made a motion to appoint John Blessington as moderator and was seconded by Peter Tanaka.
Motion carried.
Moderator read Item I.
Item I
Should the Town of Willington direct the Board of Selectmen to investigate options to eliminate the cost of all building permit fees for any foundation repairs tied to substandard concrete in Willington based on confirmation by the Building Official?
A motion was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Bob Shabot to approve Item I.
Discussion followed.
A comment was made that the people responsible for the problem should be held accountable.
A comment was also made that the home owners have already paid for the building permits and this is not new construction and is asking the town to waive the fees. It was stated that the town needs to encourage the town’s people to fix their crumbling foundations. It is a small thing and the town should help facilitate the process.
Motion carried.
A motion was made by Peter Tanaka and seconded by Monica Lester to adjourn the meeting at 7:06 p.m.
